Introduction
Are you a trivia enthusiast, a quiz whiz, or someone who just loves to challenge their knowledge? If so, you’re in for a treat! In this blog post, we’ll explore how you can leverage the incredible capabilities of ChatGPT to generate a list of Jeopardy categories and sample questions, providing you with a fun and engaging way to test your knowledge.
The Power of ChatGPT
ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is a state-of-the-art language model powered by GPT-3.5. Its ability to understand and generate human-like text makes it a versatile tool for a wide range of applications, including natural language understanding and generation. Harnessing this power, we can create a personalized Jeopardy experience.
Generating Jeopardy Categories
To kick things off, let’s use ChatGPT to generate a list of Jeopardy categories. I started by prompting the model with a request “What are the most common Jeopardy categories”. This generated a list of nine categories ranging from Art and Music to Science.
Testing My Knowledge
With the list of categories, the next step was to create sample Jeopardy questions for each category. For each category, I prompted ChatGPT to generate ten Jeopardy questions without answers. For example, “Generate 10 Jeopardy questions for the category Science and do not show the answers yet.” Then, I attempted to answer each question. Finally, I prompted ChatGPT to “Show Answers” to see how I had performed. Here are my results:
- History 7/10 ( 7 out of 10 answers correct)
- Literature 4/10
- Science 6/10
- Pop Culture 5/10
- Geography 7/10
- Art and Music 5/10
- Sports 8/10
- Before and After 1/10. ChatGPT was not able to generate proper questions. This is a bad category for me when I watch Jeopardy. I picked a mix of 10 Before and After answers from the J! Archive.
- Wordplay/Language 2/10
- Religion and Mythology 2/10. ChatGPT did not list this as a common category, but I asked ChatGPT to generate questions since I know this is a weak subject for me.
Conclusion
ChatGPT opens up a world of possibilities for creating personalized trivia experiences. In my case, I need a way to measure if I am retaining the knowledge I am studying. My goal is to be able to answer 80% of the questions in a category. Is ChatGPT the best way to get questions to test my knowledge? I think yes it is one of the best ways to get questions because of the amount of customization you can do when prompting. Now, I didn’t verify any of the answers ChatGPT gave me, so there is a possibility that ChatGPT could give the wrong answer. I plan to streamline the categories by gradually breaking them down into more specific and focused subcategories. As I start to test myself on the new subcategories, I will look to find some trivia websites that provide questions for some testing. However, I think using ChatGPT will always be part of my studying and testing.
